Job Title

Facilities Maintenance Technician

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform daily building inspections.
  • Complete preventive maintenance and repairs.
  • Install and maintain building equipment and fixtures.
  • Respond to emergency maintenance situations.
  • Follow safety policies and procedures.
  • Maintain clean work areas and equipment.
  • Complete work orders and other required documentation.
  • Provide excellent customer service and communicate effectively with customers, coworkers, and supervisors.
  • Operate a department vehicle.
  • Assist other trades and perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Participate in professional development, continuing education, and meetings.
Minimum Classification Requirements
  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two years’ experience in general maintenance or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Obtain a valid OSHA 10-hour General Industry Safety and Health card within the probationary period.
  • Demonstrated competence in carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC/R during the probationary period.
  • May require a valid State of Ohio driver license.
Desired Qualifications
  • Associate or technical degree or certificate in a skilled trades/maintenance related field.
  • Basic understanding of university building design standards (BDS) related to maintenance and repair of building systems and equipment.
  • Basic understanding of the capital project process as managed by FOD Design and Construction.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to push and pull 70 lbs., distinguish colors, and climb ladders.
Unusual Work Conditions
  • May work in hot, cold, dusty, or dirty environments for extended periods.
  • May be required to work in cramped spaces.
