Position Description

Mid‑Level Diesel Technician – Columbus, Ohio

Benefits
  • Hourly Pay: $26.50 per hour
  • Certification Bonus up to $700 for new ASE Certification
  • Quarterly Bonus up to $500
  • Sign‑On Bonus $1250 at 30 days and $1250 at 90 days
  • Schedule:

    Monday–Friday, weekends off;
    Second shift 3:00 pm–11:30 pm

Responsibilities
  • Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties
  • Carry out standard vehicle maintenance and component inspections
  • Perform preventive maintenance
  • Diagnose mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computer
  • Identify root cause of failures and repair as needed
  • Replace defective components as instructed
  • Maintain facility cleanliness and safety
  • Communicate with customers/drivers to determine complaint nature
  • Use shop management system and electronic documentation
  • Follow federal/provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT)
  • Support operations as required (e.g., Service Island support)
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Vocational or technical certification; post‑secondary degree or technical certifications preferred
  • Basic tools proficiency required
  • Demonstrated aptitude and experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines such as routine preventative maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work)
  • Two (2) years or more of classroom training and work experience in required field preferred
  • Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class A preferred
  • Must be able to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire
  • Pass Ryder drug test, DOT physical, road test, and background check
Additional Screening

Some positions require additional screening, including employment and education verification, motor vehicle records check, road test, or badge/background requirements specific to the customer.
