Position Summary
Under minimal supervision, performs diagnostic and service work on commercial (5+ tons) HVAC equipment and accessories. Communicates with customer to answer questions, resolves problems, and ensures complete customer satisfaction. Promotes products and services to customer.
Key Responsibilities- Perform commercial service and maintenance calls.
- Analyze, diagnose, and resolve customer problems in a courteous, professional, timely, and accurate manner.
- Diagnose and perform services on heating, air conditioning, ventilation, and refrigeration equipment and accessories.
- Inspect equipment and perform diagnostics to identify potential problems and prevent premature breakdowns.
- Complete routine maintenance and equipment cleaning as required.
- Delivery and removal of parts and equipment needed to complete service work.
- Use handheld device to record all required information on customer calls; complete all forms and paperwork accurately.
- Collect payment from customer.
- Communicate with dispatch to provide accurate status reports.
- Promote products and services to the customer and provide sales leads to Sales and Service Coordinator.
- Ensure company property, vehicles, and tools are used, maintained, and accounted for.
- Represent the company professionally, honestly, and ethically in all business matters.
- Follow standard procedures and ensure the vehicle is properly stocked; return defective warranty parts and replenish stock as needed.
- Perform similar or other duties as needed or assigned.
- Maintain regular, reliable attendance.
- Report unsafe acts, conditions, and hazards to supervisor immediately.
- Report contravention of legislation, policy, procedure, or program to supervisor immediately.
- Correct substandard acts or conditions within area of control.
- Use and maintain appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as prescribed.
- Never remove or render ineffective safety guards, devices, or clothing.
- Comply with general rules as prescribed by company programs and procedures.
- Operate devices or equipment as prescribed.
- Participate in safety initiatives, teams, or committees.
- Report all injuries or incidents immediately.
- Provide input on developing safety initiatives and plans.
- Not perform actions that endanger safety or well‑being of others.
- Not engage in pranks, contests, or rough boisterous behavior.
- Work in compliance with applicable mandatory requirements.
Skills and Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED; additional training and 5+ years HVAC experience with technical training certification.
- Valid licensing or certification as required by local regulations (federal, state, provincial, or local).
- EPA and safety certifications required.
- Proficient in servicing heating, air conditioning, ventilation, and refrigeration equipment and accessories.
- Mechanical aptitude and ability to operate necessary tools and equipment.
- Ability to read wiring diagrams and troubleshoot electrical, refrigerant, and duct systems.
- Ability to start up, balance airflow, align belts and pulleys with little to no supervision.
- Ability to install basic duct fittings and repair electronic air cleaners, refrigeration systems, hot water systems, steam boilers, humidifiers, etc.
- Effective communication skills with customers.
- Time‑management and organizational skills.
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
- Flexible hours and on‑call shifts as needed.
- Physical ability to stand, walk, climb ladders, and maneuver in attics, basements, and crawl spaces; lift up to 75 lbs; carry up to 50 lbs.
- Vision: natural or corrected for close, distance, peripheral, and normal depth perception.
- Ability to work in hot, cold, outdoor, indoor, dry, humid, slippery surfaces, heights, congested areas.
- Ability to climb 30‑lb tool belt rated ladders and lift 300 lb load capacity rated ladders.
Annual compensation range: $60,000 – $76,500.
