Intermediate cable installer who executes standard copper and fiber placement, dressing, and basic termination tasks under lead direction while maintaining quality and safety expectations.

Key responsibilities
  • Pull, route, and dress copper/fiber cables in trays and cabinets following defined routes and workmanship standards.
  • Assist with termination and enclosure work as assigned; maintain bend radius and proper slack storage.
  • Apply labels per instructions and participate in self-checks/peer checks to confirm correctness before test.
  • Support test teams by preparing links (cleaning connectors, verifying endpoints) and performing remediation tasks as directed.
  • Maintain tool control, housekeeping, and safe work practices on ladders/lifts and in congested work areas.
Required skills and knowledge
  • Practical installation knowledge for copper and fiber in data hall environments; ability to follow standards and work packages.
  • Ability to use common installation tools and understand basic cable identification and cable route practices.
  • Good attention to detail for labeling, dressing, and avoiding damage to cables/connectors.

Team-oriented communication and readiness to elevate issues early.

Certifications / training

Preferred:
Entry BICSI/FOA training or equivalent on‑the‑job experience.

Role summary

Advanced copper installer responsible for high-quality copper cabling installation and termination, supporting certification test and remediation in accordance with structured cabling standards.

Key responsibilities
  • Install, route, and dress copper cabling in trays/racks/cabinets with compliant support, separation, and bend radius practices.
  • Terminate copper on patch panels/jacks (where in scope) with consistent workmanship; manage cable dressing and strain relief at termination points.
  • Support copper certification test; interpret failures and perform remediation (re‑termination, re‑route, replace damaged segments).
  • Enforce labeling and documentation standards so each link is traceable from endpoint to endpoint.
  • Coach junior installers and identify workmanship issues early to prevent downstream rework.
Required skills and knowledge
  • Expert copper structured cabling skills (Cat6/Cat6A or project‑specific) including termination quality and cable management.
  • Knowledge of BICSI/ANSI‑TIA practices for pathways, separation, grounding/bonding interfaces, and administration/labeling.
  • Ability to diagnose common copper test failures (wiremap, NEXT/return loss, impedance) and correct root causes.
  • Ability to work from drawings/cable schedules and maintain accurate completion records.
Certifications / training

Preferred: BICSI Installer/Technician and/or manufacturer copper certification training.
