Position SummaryUnder general supervision, maintains and repairs building systems to ensure safe, comfortable, and efficient operations. Focuses on HVAC, mechanical systems, utilities, and building automation systems. Responds to emergencies and supports facility operations across campus buildings.
Required Skills & Knowledge- HVAC troubleshooting and repair
- Building automation systems (BAS/DDC)
- Boilers, chillers, steam, hot water, and chilled water systems
- Electrical and mechanical systems
- Reading blueprints and technical manuals
- Preventive maintenance practices
- Customer service and communication
- Computer skills (work orders, email, reports)
- Problem-solving and prioritization
- Basic math including algebra and geometry
- High school diploma or GED (or equivalent experience).
- 4+ years of building systems, HVAC, or commercial/industrial maintenance experience.
- At least 2 years working with large-scale heating and cooling systems.
- Obtain during probation: EPA Section 608 Universal Certification, OSHA 10-Hour General Industry Card.
- Valid Ohio driver’s license may be required.
- Associate degree, technical degree, or trade certification.
- Experience with Direct Digital Controls (DDC) and Building Automation Systems.
- Boiler operator license.
- Knowledge of university building standards and construction processes.
Work Environment Requirements
- Push/pull up to 70 pounds.
- Distinguish colors.
- Climb and work on ladders for extended periods.
- Work in:
Hot or cold environments Dusty or dirty conditions Tight or confined spaces. - May work overtime and be on 24-hour emergency call.
