Forward Air, Inc., a leading North American freight and logistics company, is seeking a Mechanic to maintain and repair tractors, trailers, and material-handling equipment supporting expedited LTL and intermodal operations. You will perform inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on diesel engines, braking systems, electrical and hydraulic components, and trailer bodies to ensure maximum safety and uptime. Responsibilities include completing work orders, adhering to DOT and company safety standards, supporting preventive maintenance schedules, and collaborating with operations teams in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Responsibilities
- Inspect, diagnose, and repair tractors, trailers, and related equipment to support freight operations.
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance to maximize equipment uptime and reliability.
- Troubleshoot and repair diesel engines, brake systems, electrical, and hydraulic components.
- Complete accurate work orders, maintenance records, and parts usage documentation.
- Ensure all work complies with DOT, OSHA, and company safety standards and procedures.
- Collaborate with operations teams to prioritize repairs and minimize service disruptions.
- Use diagnostic tools, technical manuals, and schematics to identify and resolve issues efficiently.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop and yard work environment.
- Participate in ongoing training to stay current with equipment and technology changes.
- Support continuous improvement efforts in maintenance processes and fleet reliability.
