Cement Mason Foreman

Miller Bros. Const., Inc. is a heavy-civil contractor specializing in earthmoving, utility installation, and structure development for public roadway, industrial and commercial clients.

The Cement Mason Foreman is a traveling field leader responsible for supervising and performing concrete placement and finishing work across Miller Bros. Const., Inc. projects. This is a hands‑on foreman position that travels to active jobsites as concrete work is scheduled and works alongside the crew to ensure concrete is placed, finished, cured, and completed safely, efficiently, and to project requirements.

The Cement Mason Foreman coordinates closely with project Superintendents and Foremen to plan concrete activities, confirm site readiness, organize labor, tools, materials, and equipment, and deliver high-quality finished concrete within project schedule and budget expectations.

• Lead and actively perform concrete placement and finishing operations, including screeding, floating, troweling, edging, jointing, texturing, curing, and other required finishing techniques.
• Review plans, specifications, elevations, slopes, dimensions, and finish requirements before placement and ensure completed work meets project standards.
• Coordinate concrete pours with project supervision, ready‑mix suppliers, pump operators, testing personnel, and other trades to maintain an efficient and continuous placement.
• Inspect forms, reinforcing steel, embeds, subgrade, access, tools, equipment, and site conditions before each pour and communicate readiness concerns to project supervision.
• Monitor concrete during placement and finishing and make field adjustments necessary to achieve proper grade, drainage, appearance, durability, and finish quality.
• Protect completed concrete through proper curing and protection practices and address punch‑list or corrective finishing work as required.

• Supervise and direct cement masons, laborers, and other assigned employees while remaining actively engaged in concrete finishing work.
• Plan daily crew activities, manpower, tools, equipment, and material needs with the project Superintendent or Foreman before concrete operations begin.
• Assign work based on crew skill and project needs, monitor productivity and workmanship, and adjust operations to maintain schedule and production expectations.
• Train and develop employees in proper concrete placement, finishing techniques, tool use, quality expectations, and safe work practices.
• Coordinate with project teams as the traveling concrete resource, moving between projects based on scheduled pours and operational priorities.

• Ensure assigned crews comply with OSHA standards, MBC Safety Programs, project‑specific requirements, and required personal protective equipment.
• Conduct and participate in daily Site Sense/toolbox talks and pre‑task planning before concrete operations and when conditions or work activities change.
• Identify and correct hazards associated with concrete placement and finishing, including wet concrete, moving equipment, pump operations, formwork, access, weather, and slip/trip hazards.
• Report incidents, injuries, near misses, unsafe conditions, and property damage immediately in accordance with MBC procedures.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work area and ensure tools and equipment are used safely and properly.
