Mechanical Optimizers is seeking an experienced Commercial HVAC Pipefitter to join our Columbus installation team. This position is responsible for installing commercial HVAC and mechanical piping systems safely, accurately, and according to project specifications, applicable codes, and company quality standards.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with multiple piping materials and joining methods, can read mechanical plans and specifications, and takes pride in completing clean, dependable work.

• Install commercial HVAC and mechanical piping systems, including copper refrigerant piping, copper water piping, PVC piping, and threaded-and-coupled piping.
• Measure, cut, fit, thread, couple, solder, and braze piping and related components.
• Install pipe supports, hangers, valves, fittings, and equipment connections according to plans and specifications.
• Read and interpret mechanical drawings, piping layouts, specifications, and job documentation.
• Pressure-test piping systems and assist with system startup, evacuation, charging, and commissioning when qualified and authorized.
• Review job materials and site conditions before beginning work and promptly identify missing materials, conflicts, or potential scope changes.
• Coordinate with project leadership, warehouse personnel, and other trades to support efficient job completion.
• Maintain accurate project documentation, photographs, testing records, and closeout information.
• Protect customer property and maintain clean, organized, and professional work areas.
• Assist and train helpers or apprentices in safe, efficient, and high-quality piping installation methods.
• Minimize punch-list items and callbacks through consistent quality control.
• Follow company safety policies and all applicable jobsite requirements.

• Two or more years of commercial HVAC, mechanical piping, or pipe fitting experience preferred.
• Experience installing copper refrigerant piping, copper water piping, PVC piping, and threaded-and-coupled piping.
• Experience with brazing, soldering, threading, coupling, and pressure testing.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical plans, piping layouts, specifications, and equipment information.
• Knowledge of applicable codes, permitting requirements, and safe piping-installation practices.
• EPA Section 608 certification preferred and required when job duties involve handling regulated refrigerants.
• Strong craftsmanship, communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
• Trade school, apprenticeship training, or equivalent field experience preferred.

• Work in indoor and outdoor environments, including rooftops, mechanical rooms, crawl spaces, construction sites, and occupied customer facilities.
• Regularly lift, carry, push, or pull equipment and materials weighing up to 50 pounds, with assistance for heavier items.
• Work from ladders, lifts, and elevated surfaces as required.
• Safely use hand tools, power tools, threading equipment, brazing equipment, gauges, and testing instruments.
• Comply with PPE, driving, lockout/tagout, refrigerant-handling, and jobsite safety requirements.
