Fire Alarm Journeyman

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Fire Alarm Journeyman to join our team in Columbus, OH. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in fire alarm installation, testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning, with a commitment to safety and quality. This role requires leadership abilities, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

• Lead, mentor, and assist other team members to promote a safety-first culture and efficient project completion.
• Follow detailed plans and fire alarm drawings, including riser diagrams, to complete assigned tasks accurately.
• Wire and install fire alarm systems according to manufacturer technical documents.
• Commission small size fire alarm projects and assist in learning to complete required NFPA commissioning paperwork.
• Perform testing, troubleshooting, and inspection of fire alarm equipment and small sections of installations.
• Assist with annual, semi-annual, and visual inspections as needed.
• Maintain accurate daily paperwork, generate material orders, and help produce precise as-built drawings and records.
• Maintain clear, concise, and respectful communication with team members, supervisors, and clients.
• Be receptive to feedback and continuously improve work quality and safety practices.

• Completion of 10 Continuing Professional Development (CPD) hours annually.
• OSHA 10 Certification.
• Strong understanding of basic fire alarm installations and NFPA 72 standards.
• Ability to read and interpret fire alarm drawings, riser diagrams, and manufacturer technical documents.
• Experience commissioning fire alarm systems and completing related paperwork.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot fire alarm equipment and installations effectively.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor and guide others.
• Excellent record-keeping and organizational skills.
• Commitment to safety and quality in every task performed.
• Clear, concise, and respectful communication skills.

This position requires working on construction sites and various project locations in and around Columbus, OH. The candidate must be able to work in a team environment and adapt to changing project needs while maintaining a strong focus on safety and quality.
