Master’s of Social Work or Master’s of Clinical Counseling Internship Behavioral Health Internship, Columbus, OH

National Youth Advocate Program is accepting internship applications for our Behavioral Health team for the Summer, 2026 and Fall, 2026 in our Columbus region. Working with the Behavioral Health team, you will gain hands‑on experience with youth and families, see clients in the community, and have the opportunity to observe other therapeutic areas throughout the agency to gain insight into the communities and clients we serve.

This position works closely with youth, families, foster parents, and community partners.

Enrollment in a Master’s Social Work or Master’s Clinical Counseling program is required.

Your Internship Experience may include:
  • Providing appropriate individual, group, and family mental health services, case management, transportation, and other professional services, meeting or exceeding established outcomes thresholds on behalf of persons served.
  • Traveling as needed to provide community‑based services to youth and families in compliance with organizational, contract, and regulatory requirements.
  • Completing all required documentation in a timely manner.
  • Completing all required training in a timely manner.
  • Coordinating and monitoring services for the youth and family in the community, including mental health, medical, educational, psychological, vocational, and social services.
  • Regularly reviewing and modifying youth‑based plans to assure consistent progress and success on written plan goals.
  • Assisting in family reunification and/or stabilization efforts with the youth’s primary family or other permanent living arrangements consistent with the youth’s case plan.
  • Actively participating in the weekly supervision process.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or a comparable Human Services field from an accredited institution.
  • Enrollment in an accredited institution for a Master’s Degree in Social Work or Master’s in Clinical Counseling.
    • An internship or field placement is a requirement by the institution.
    • Upon completion of the internship, the individual will receive credit toward their pursued degree.
  • LSW, SWT, or CT licensure required.
  • Proficient use of desktop and laptop computers, smartphones, tablets, printers, fax machines, and photocopiers, as well as software including word processing, spreadsheet, and database programs.
Driving And Vehicle Requirements
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Reliable personal transportation.
  • Good driving record.
  • Minimum automobile insurance coverage of $100,000/$300,000 bodily injury liability.
