Kinnect is an Ohio-based non‑profit organization dedicated to developing Kin First strategies and delivering programs that strengthen kinship connections and inclusive support networks for families, young people, and children. For 20 years Kinnect has collaborated with families, public agencies, and private providers to ensure young people and families have the belonging, resources, and relationships they need to thrive.

Kinnect To Family Program

Kinnect to Family (KTF) engages in urgent, diligent family search and engagement to identify and connect youth in foster care or residential treatment with kin—both biological and chosen—who can provide support and permanency. Through innovative tools and best practices, KTF helps ensure youth remain connected to the people who know and love them.

Position Summary

The Kinnect to Family Coach provides coaching and support for KTF Specialists and their Supervisors across designated counties and partner sites. Responsibilities include ensuring fidelity to the model, facilitating communication among sites, providing technical assistance for family searches and genogram development, and delivering training to sustain the program.

Essential Functions
  • Coach Specialists and Supervisors on the program model and best practice strategies.
  • Interpret and articulate the program model and benchmarks.
  • Facilitate mutual support and communication among designated counties.
  • Provide regular technical assistance, including relative/kin searching and barrier busting.
  • Consult on search tools, genogram, and family engagement materials.
  • Conduct program reviews and provide technical assistance on intake and referral processes.
  • Accompany Specialists to home visits, meetings, and hearings as needed.
  • Ensure proper electronic and paper file management.
  • Identify, develop, and facilitate trainings for Specialists, Supervisors, and stakeholders.
  • Work effectively with child welfare and court teams.
  • Demonstrate commitment to Kinnect’s core philosophies and a relentless, strength‑based approach.
  • Maintain professional maturity, independence, and capacity to build effective relationships.
  • Exhibit superior advocacy skills.
Skills and Competencies
  • Strong written and verbal communication.
  • Excellent organization and time‑management, managing multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Facilitation, conflict resolution, and mediation skills.
  • Adaptability and comfort working with diverse populations.
  • Familiarity with Genopro (genogram software).
  • Independent assessment and client‑service orientation.
  • Flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.
  • Basic Microsoft Office proficiency.
  • Valid driver’s license and dependable transportation.
Education/Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree required;
    Social work or related field preferred.
  • Experience in the child welfare field with knowledge of foster care and adoption strongly preferred.
  • Licensed social worker preferred, but not required.
  • Past supervisory experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience working with interdisciplinary teams and innovative problem‑solving.
Working Conditions
  • Requires travel within Southeast Ohio (Belmont, Jackson, Fairfield, Franklin, Gallia, Lawrence, and Pike; Columbus area).
  • Flexible schedule with occasional overnight travel.
  • Hybrid work model combining remote and on‑site duties, including routine field work.
  • Standard office equipment will be provided.
