While many roles at Coinbase offer remote flexibility, we are not entirely remote. In-person collaboration is essential throughout the year, with multiple team and company-wide offsites organized annually to enhance connection, collaboration, and alignment. The Overseer team serves as the business integrity layer  define the financial contracts between our systems, ensuring that the rules governing all fund flows are explicit, and we detect violations in real-time. When issues arise, we are notified within seconds instead of waiting for a quarterly reconciliation. Our team collaborates with every department at Coinbase involved in financial transactions.

• Develop and scale real-time enforcement of in variants across Coinbase's financial transactions.
• Contribute to our core platform, including the detection engine, invariant framework, and the tools utilized by partner teams for onboarding their fund flows.
• Take complete ownership of work streams from design of correctness models with partners to operating them in production.
• Create AI guardrails to enhance processing speed: develop predictive consistency models that identify deviations at initiation and proactive invariant discovery systems to highlight coverage gaps before issues surface.
• Mentor junior engineers and lead technical execution on impactful projects.

• 5+ years of experience in software development focused on large-scale distributed systems.
• A strong commitment to correctness; you ensure that the system behaves as intended as a whole, beyond just coding.
• Experience in building platform-level infrastructure that is utilized by multiple teams.
• A sense of ownership where you tackle problems, not just tickets.
• Ability to effectively use generative AI tools and assistive technologies in your daily workflows, maintaining a commitment to refining your processes and outcomes.

• Experience building in a fast-paced growth environment, from startup to mid-size company.
• Familiarity with financial, payments, or reconciliation systems.
• Knowledge of streaming data infrastructure (Kafka, Flink, Spark, or similar).
• Proficiency in Golang, Ruby, Docker, Postgres, Mongo
  
  DB, or Dynamo
  
  DB.
• Experience developing financial, high-reliability, or security systems.
• A background in crypto, including knowledge of onchain activity such as working with Ethereum addresses and engaging with blockchain-based applications.

Depending on your work location, the target annual base salary for this position ranges from $186,065 to $218,900 USD, excluding equity and bonuses. Total compensation may also include benefits such as medical, dental, vision, and 401(k).
