Specialist, Software Engineer; IT Application Development - Test Automation

Nationwide’s Technology team is seeking a Software Engineer to deliver secure technology solutions for a Fortune 100 company. The role is primarily remote with preference for candidates able to work from Nationwide’s Columbus, OH office with optional hybrid arrangements.

As a Software Engineer you will craft new software applications or modify and support existing applications, analyzing, coding, configuring, testing, debugging, documenting, and maintaining solutions to meet business partner needs.

• Analyze, develop, test, debug, document, and deploy software according to standards in an agile environment.
• Apply secure software and systems engineering practices throughout the delivery lifecycle to protect data and technology solutions.
• Use Dev Sec Ops  practices, tooling, and techniques.
• Drive continuous improvement and learning through ongoing training, practice, and innovation.
• Manage medium to large project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables proactively.

Other responsibilities as assigned.

Reports to a Technology Manager/Director.

Education: Completion of undergraduate studies in computer science, information systems, or related field. Technology experience or non-traditional technology certificates may substitute.

Experience: Four or more years of analysis and technology experience.

Knowledge, Abilities, and

Skills:

Proficiency in one or more programming languages (Java, C++, Python, JavaScript). Strong knowledge of software development lifecycle. Proven ability to tackle complex business and development problems. Ability to thrive in a team environment. Insurance/financial services industry knowledge a plus.

Working Conditions: Office environment may vary by team/location. Associates may have on-call responsibility after normal hours and/or on weekends.
