Software Development Specialist ; Salesforce Developer

Job Summary

Software Development Specialist 3 (Salesforce Developer) – a full‑time role within the Department of Children and Youth (DCY). You will join the application development team to design, develop, enhance, and support DCY’s Salesforce applications, ensuring the platform remains stable, scalable, and efficient.

Office:
Children & Youth N. High Complex, 246 North High Street, Columbus, OH 43215. On‑site work Monday‑Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, with possible variation of start time from 7:00 AM to 9:00 AM by supervisor approval.

• Develop, customize, and enhance Salesforce applications using Apex, Lightning Web Components, Flow, Visualforce, SOQL/SOSL, and Omnistudio components (Flex Cards, Omniscripts, Data Raptors, Integration Procedures).
• Perform code reviews and enforce agency coding standards.
• Translate business requirements into technical designs and solutions that follow Salesforce best practices.
• Build and maintain integrations between Salesforce and external systems using APIs, middleware, and tools such as Mule Soft.
• Provide ongoing production support, including troubleshooting and issue resolution for Salesforce and related IT systems.
• Stay current with Salesforce releases, new features, and industry trends.
• Follow development standards, coding best practices, and version control processes.
• Coordinate unit and system testing, manage debugging and defect tracking, and support user acceptance testing.
• Use Service Now to manage incident tickets and communicate resolutions.
• Understand Salesforce Dev Ops practices, including CI/CD pipelines, Git, deployment automation, and release management.
• Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
• Manage day‑to‑day configuration and maintenance of the Salesforce platform.
• Perform sandbox refreshes, create and update users, roles, permission sets, profiles, and security settings.
• Monitor data quality and perform data imports, updates, and deduplication.

• Salesforce Platform Developer i (PDI) certification; PDIi a plus.
• Experience with Dev Ops tools such as Gearset, Copado, or similar.
• Experience in Agile/Scrum environments.
• Experience with Public Sector Solution Object model or Omnistudio components.

• Minimum 12 months of experience with the primary Salesforce technologies listed above.
• High school diploma or equivalent; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or related field preferred.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.

Step 1 hourly wage: $41.81. Salary progresses to Step 2 after 6 months and annually thereafter.
