Job Description SummaryAs a Senior Software Engineer on the Retirement Solutions Technology team, you will focus on providing high‑quality, efficient technology solutions to support a line of business. Your responsibilities include analyzing, coding, configuring, testing, debugging, documenting, and maintaining applications while applying secure software and systems engineering practices throughout the delivery lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities- Participate in the delivery of quality solutions across various technical domains.
- Adhere to best practices, tools, and consistent processes.
- Participate in design, development, and implementation of IT solutions.
- Troubleshoot complex software development problems and provide effective solutions.
- Apply secure software and systems engineering practices throughout the delivery lifecycle.
- Use Dev Sec Ops practices, tooling, and techniques.
- Drive continuous improvement and learning through ongoing training, practice, and innovation.
- Manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables proactively.
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
- Proficient in Java, Typescript, Angular, RESTful API, and Apigee.
- Experienced in the use of AI tools like Git Hub Copilot and Git Hub Version Control.
- Proficient in SQL.
- Experience with Kubernetes, Rancher, and Cloud Native Platform.
- Experience working in an Agile team.
- Strong communication and people skills.
- Passionate about learning and keeping up with technology trends.
- Undergraduate studies in computer science, management information systems, or related degree (technology experience or non‑traditional technology certificates may substitute).
- Two or more years of analysis and technology experience.
- Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Java, C++, Python, or JavaScript.
- Knowledge of the software development lifecycle and ability to tackle moderately sophisticated business and development problems.
- Ability to thrive in a team environment.
- Insurance or financial services industry knowledge is a plus.
- Leadership skills, competencies, and experiences may take precedence for staffing exceptions.
Reports to a Technology Manager/Director.
Job ConditionsOvertime eligibility:
Not Eligible (Exempt). Office environment may vary based on team and/or location. Associates may have on‑call responsibility after normal working hours and/or on weekends. Work is performed in Columbus, Ohio on a hybrid basis with collaboration meetings on Mondays and Tuesdays. This role does not qualify for employer‑sponsored work authorization or the STEM OPT Extension program.
