Full Stack Software Engineer – SRE/Dev Ops

Position Overview

We are looking for a hands-on Software Engineer with a strong SRE/Dev Ops background to support an existing application environment involving Python and Java.

The engineer will work on existing Python and Java code, including enhancing legacy Python applications and rewriting/converting Python code into Java or Pega, followed by migration to AWS.

The ideal candidate should be able to come in and run with the work independently, set up environments and deployments, build enhancements/features, and collaborate effectively with engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Work hands-on with existing Python and Java applications.
• Enhance and maintain existing/aged Python applications.
• Rewrite Python applications/code into Java or Pega.
• Support migration of applications to AWS.
• Set up development and deployment environments.
• Work on application deployments and deployment-related activities.
• Build enhancements and new features as needed.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
• Collaborate closely with engineering and cross-functional teams.
• Take ownership of assigned work and drive tasks to completion.
• Proactively communicate and reach out for support when needed.
• Operate independently with a self-driven, hands-on approach.

Required Skills

• Java – strong hands-on experience preferred.
• Python – hands-on experience, particularly with existing/legacy applications and rewriting Python code.
• AWS – hands-on experience with cloud environments and migration.
• Spring Boot – hands-on experience; can be lighter if the candidate is very strong in Python.
• SRE/Dev Ops background with strong engineering experience.
• Experience with application environment setup and deployment.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and proactively.

Candidate Profile

The client is open to candidates with either of the following backgrounds:

• Strong Java + light Python, or
• Strong Python + light Java

The key requirement is that the candidate must have genuine hands-on experience and be comfortable working across development, deployment, SRE/Dev Ops, and AWS-related activities.

Interview Process

• 1 Interview Round
• 30 minutes
• Fast coding round followed by Q&A
• Zoom interview, or onsite for local Columbus candidates.
