- Provide training and coaching to new and existing Delivery Specialists, including technical training and problem solving resources. Provide input for performance reviews.
- Assist management with vehicle safety and building security issues; allocate resources to ensure timely deliveries per customer requirements.
- Communicate customer feedback to appropriate supervisory personnel.
- Develop and contribute ideas and suggestions for operational improvements utilizing LEAN practices.
- Ensure the proper completion of all required paperwork.
- Assist management with route design, balancing and dispatch, including training and follow‑up of driver and vehicle safety and State and Federal Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). supervisory functions in the absence of direct manager or supervisor.
- Assist with delivery operations as a route back‑up driver when necessary.
- Adhere to established Standard Operating Procedures.
- Perform driver safety checks as needed for follow‑up or retraining.
- Participate in Safety Committee and conduct Tier 1 meetings.
- Assist in meeting with new customers and for onsite visits.
- High School diploma or equivalent education preferred.
- Minimum 3 years experience in a related field.
- At least two years of Delivery experience preferred; supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
- Knowledge of systems, tools, and processes in a delivery environment preferred.
- CDL may be required in states where applicable.
- Clean driving record.
- Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) required only for operating delivery vehicle exceeding 26,000 lb Gross Vehicle Weight.
- Department of Transportation with computer and other transportation systems; GIS computer programs preferred.
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in English.
- Professional representation of the company when making customer deliveries.
- Good job performance and behavior measured through teamwork, attendance, customer service, productivity, etc.
- Knowledge of operation of power/mobile equipment.
- Basic arithmetic skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
- Geographical knowledge of the delivery service area.
- Commitment to Office Max core values.
- Ability to transport single cartons up to 75 pounds and use manual pallet jacks to move pallets up to 2,500 pounds.
- Ability to work in all seasons and handle repetitive lifting, carrying, climbing, standing, and walking as required.
- Ability to read and understand a map.
- Ability to upsell.
The salary range for this role is $27.00/hour to $30.00/hour, subject to all state and local minimum wage requirements.
