Responsibilities- Exercise greatest care in transportation of school children.
- Takes necessary precautions to protect students, employees, equipment and property.
- Report all injuries, accidents, illnesses and discipline problems to the appropriate authority immediately.
- Wear seat belt assembly while driving.
- Instruct students on rider safety.
- Ensure passengers use appropriate restraints/seat belts.
- Operate lifts safely according to operating procedures and Pupil Transportation regulations.
- Operate vehicle at a safe speed not exceeding posted limits.
- Maintain a copy of the route schedule, vehicle odometer, and other required data in the vehicle.
- Operate vehicle according to the route schedule and designated stops.
- Inspect, verify, and monitor vehicle condition and safety, and submit required reports.
- Participate in mandated meetings and in‑service programs as required.
- Lift and move heavy objects or children up to 100 lbs.
- Maintain cleanliness of the bus interior and exterior, including windows, and conduct minor servicing.
- Assist maintenance department with custodial duties, snow shoveling, truck loading/unloading, mowing, weed cutting, trash hauling, furniture movement, stage setup, floor cleaning, and windows/walls cleaning.
Formal education in arithmetic, including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, reading, writing, and speaking English; 3 months training or 3 months experience operating passenger bus or van; valid Commercial Driver License with appropriate endorsement for size and type of motorized equipment operated as regulated by Sections 4506.01 & 4506.12 of the Revised Code. Or equivalent of minimum class qualifications noted above.

- Requires out-of-state travel and travel throughout the State of Ohio.
- Requires evening, Friday, Saturday, Sunday availability as needed.
- Final candidate will be required to submit a urinalysis to test for illegal drug use prior to appointment; a positive test will result in disqualification.
