Shift and Compensation
Shift: Will include a weekend day; 4am start time.
Sign On Bonus: $3,000.
Driver OverviewDrivers operate heavy‑duty trucks with front, side, or rear‑end load lift attachments depending on the line of business. These trucks transport material to disposal, transfer, or recycle facilities. Commercial Drivers provide pickup service of containers filled with waste or recyclable material. Residential Drivers collect household waste in residential areas. Roll‑off Drivers prepare, load, and transport large open‑top and compactor containers from customer locations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Operate vehicle in accordance with Waste Management Safety and Life Critical Rules, OSHA and DOT requirements and all local, state, and federal laws.
- Perform pre‑ and post‑trip inspections and document checks using the standard DVIR.
- Immediately report unsafe situations or service‑related issues to the Operations Manager or Dispatch.
- Attend and participate in scheduled training, briefings, and meetings.
- Work with the Operations Manager to improve route efficiencies and identify best practices.
- Notify Management of any incidents, accidents, injuries, or property damage.
- Notify Management or Dispatch of service interruptions, closed or impassable streets, heavy receptacles, or potential safety hazards.
- Communicate customer requests to Operations Manager or Dispatch.
- Completely dump all receptacles and leave the customer’s location clean and free of debris.
- Follow route assignments and complete end‑of‑day documentation and check‑out process.
- Assist other drivers as directed to meet customer needs.
- Required:
- At least one year operating a vehicle requiring a CDL (or one year equivalent military driving within the last 7 years).
- Ability to read, write, and speak English.
- At least 18 years of age.
- Legally eligible to work in the country where the position is located.
- A Class A CDL with air‑brake endorsement upon hire or a Class B CDL with air‑brake endorsement upon hire.
