Our fleet of heavy equipment and vehicles is critical to successful project execution, and our fleet team ensures equipment is safe, reliable, and efficiently deployed across all job sites.
We are seeking a Regional Fleet Manager to oversee fleet operations, maintenance coordination, and equipment readiness across a designated region.
Position SummaryThe Regional Fleet Manager is responsible for managing the performance, maintenance, and utilization of all company equipment and vehicles within their assigned region. This role works closely with Field Superintendents, Project Managers, Shop Managers, and the Equipment Department to ensure equipment is properly maintained, efficiently deployed, and fully operational to support project needs.
ResponsibilitiesKey Responsibilities
Fleet Operations & Equipment Management
- Oversee all fleet operations within the assigned region, including heavy equipment, trucks, and support vehicles
- Ensure equipment is properly maintained, inspected, and ready for deployment to job sites
- Coordinate equipment allocation and utilization to maximize efficiency and minimize downtime
- Monitor equipment performance and identify opportunities for improvement
Maintenance Coordination
- Work closely with Shop Managers and Field Mechanics to ensure timely maintenance and repairs
- Assist in scheduling preventive maintenance and tracking service intervals
- Troubleshoot equipment issues and coordinate solutions with shop and field teams
- Ensure accurate documentation of maintenance, repairs, and inspections
Logistics & Deployment
- Coordinate movement of equipment between job sites, shops, and storage yards
- Work with Teamsters and logistics personnel to ensure safe and timely transport of equipment
- Assist in planning equipment needs for upcoming projects in collaboration with Project Managers
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure all equipment meets OSHA, DOT, and company safety standards
- Promote a culture of safety within fleet operations and maintenance activities
- Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure compliance and safe operation
- Address and resolve any safety concerns related to equipment or fleet operations
- Work closely with Field Superintendents and Project Managers to understand equipment needs and priorities
- Communicate equipment availability, issues, and timelines to operations leadership
- Support training and development of operators and mechanics related to equipment use and care
Reporting & Performance Tracking
- Maintain records related to equipment utilization, maintenance costs, and downtime
- Track fleet performance metrics and identify trends or inefficiencies
- Provide regular reports to leadership on fleet status and performance
Skills
- Strong understanding of heavy equipment operations and maintenance
- Ability to manage fleet utilization and logistics across multiple job sites
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Effective communication with field, shop, and leadership teams
- Problem-solving and decision-making under pressure
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
- Proficiency in fleet management software and basic computer systems
- Strong attention to detail and focus on operational efficiency
Physical Requirements
- Ability to travel frequently within the assigned region
- Ability to walk job sites, shops, and equipment yards
- Ability to climb on and inspect heavy equipment as needed
- Ability to work in outdoor environments and varying weather conditions
This position operates across job sites, shops, and equipment yards within the assigned region. The Regional Fleet Manager works closely with Shop Managers, Field Mechanics, Project Managers, and Field Superintendents to ensure equipment is safe, operational, and efficiently utilized to support project success.
QualificationsQualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; degree in Mechanical, Construction Management, or related field preferred
- 5+ years of experience in fleet management, heavy equipment maintenance, or construction operations
