Inventory Control Coordinator

Coordinate, analyze, and control a statewide inventory system. You'll manage the full lifecycle of materials, supplies, equipment, and fixed assets — from receipt and distribution to disposal — while developing and enforcing inventory control policy across multiple locations.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate, analyze, and control inventory system statewide; receive, inspect, distribute, and maintain inventory of materials, supplies, and equipment
  • Control equipment and fixed asset inventory; prepare annual inventory reports for the state auditor
  • Enter, update, verify, and track inventory information in computer systems
  • Develop, implement, and enforce policies and procedures on inventory control and salvage disposal
  • Monitor receipt and disposition of surplus property; resolve inventory-related problems
  • Coordinate with the investment recovery officer on disposal of unusable equipment
  • Evaluate distribution and inventory systems and recommend improvements
  • Perform random physical audits at inventory locations statewide
  • Coordinate with field, district/branch offices, administrative services, and warehouses on inventory procedures
  • Attend district meetings to instruct and advise on inventory control and salvage disposal procedures
  • Serve as safety, training, and public relations point of contact for inventory matters
Qualifications
  • Knowledge of inventory control principles and state regulations on inventory, salvage, and surplus disposal
  • Familiarity with electronic data processing systems as applied to inventory control
  • Strong computer skills (including relevant software/systems); comfort with calculators and standard office equipment
  • Understanding of basic bookkeeping procedures; ability to calculate fractions, decimals, and percentages
  • Strong problem-solving skills — ability to define problems, collect data, and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to gather, collate, and classify information, and write clear instructions and specifications
  • Strong attention to detail (ability to identify similarities/differences between items)
  • Excellent communication skills, including handling sensitive inquiries from officials and the public
  • Public relations and employee training/development experience
  • Ability to lift 25–30 lbs.
Minimum Qualifications
  • 18 months of training or experience in inventory control
  • 9 months of experience (or 3 courses) in electronic data processing related to inventory control
  • 3 months of experience (or 1 course) in public relations
  • OR 9 months of experience as an Inventory Control Specialist 1
  • OR equivalent combination of the above
