Job Description
A Clinical Microbiologist performs routine and specialized clinical tests and specimen examinations to identify microorganisms within the microbiology department consistent with extent of training. The Clinical Microbiologist is responsible for performing analyses according to established procedures, verifying results, and reporting results to the patient location and/or physician. The Clinical Microbiologist may assist with additional responsibilities as deemed appropriate by supervising technologists / technicians to include performing quality control and maintenance.
The Clinical Microbiologist will perform specimen analysis using microscopy, culture methods and molecular diagnostics. Must be to perform diagnostic identification of site-specific pathogens; follow CLISI guidelines on reporting breakpoints and MIC interpretation.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Microbiology with MT Microbiology Certification or MT(ASCP). 3 plus years current experience in Microbiology.
