The Covey at Big Easy Ranch is seeking a motivated, high-energy Assistant Superintendent to join our agronomy leadership team and help guide our golf operations to the next level. The Covey at Big Easy Ranch is a premier private sporting club located in Columbus, Texas. The property features 27 holes of golf
, including an 18-hole championship course and a 12-hole par-3 course, both designed by Chet Williams
. The golf courses are complemented by first-class practice facilities, luxury amenities, and an award-winning dining experience.

The championship course was thoughtfully designed to take advantage of the ranch’s rolling terrain, elevation changes, tree-lined fairways, creeks, and waterfalls. It offers a challenging yet enjoyable experience for golfers of all skill levels while maintaining a strong emphasis on playability and presentation.

Position Overview

The Assistant Superintendent will play a key leadership role in the daily golf course maintenance operation, working closely with the Director of Agronomy and Golf Course Superintendent. This position is designed for an individual seeking meaningful responsibility, professional growth, and the opportunity to further develop the skills required to become a future Golf Course Superintendent.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in all aspects of golf course maintenance and operations across the property
  • Lead and manage daily maintenance activities, including crew supervision and task delegation
  • Participate in project planning, execution, and long-term course improvement initiatives
  • Assist in developing and managing monthly and annual operating budgets

    Promote a strong, positive team culture built on accountability, communication, and mutual respect
  • Make sound agronomic and operational decisions with golf playability as a top priority
  • Help train and develop staff while leading by example

Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2 year experience as an Assistant Superintendent or comparable leadership role
  • 2- or 4-year degree in turfgrass management or a related field
  • Supervisory experience with maintenance crews preferred
  • Texas pesticide applicator license (or ability to obtain)
  • Strong organizational, decision-making, and time-management skills
Compensation & Benefits
  • Salary Range: $80,000–$90,000, commensurate with experience
