Reporting directly to the General Manager and working closely with the Director of Golf, the Director of Agronomy & Grounds is responsible for overseeing all day-to-day agronomy operations, maintaining championship-level playing conditions, managing budgets and personnel, and ensuring the health and appearance of all golf course turf, landscaping, common areas, and grounds throughout the property. The ideal candidate is a strong leader, effective communicator, and experienced agronomy professional with extensive knowledge of turfgrass management, irrigation systems, golf course construction and maintenance, and team development.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Proven success in the management and maintenance of Bermuda grass putting greens
  • Experience overseeing and maintaining Zoysia turfgrass
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational abilities
  • Extensive golf knowledge with a thorough understanding of championship-caliber course setup and conditioning
Essential Functions
  • Lead and manage all golf course maintenance, landscaping, and grounds operations throughout the property.
  • Establish and maintain championship-level standards for greens, tees, fairways, roughs, bunkers, and practice facilities.
  • Develop and implement agronomic programs for turf health, fertility, pest management, and environmental stewardship.
  • Manage irrigation systems, water delivery systems, pumps, wells, drainage systems, and related infrastructure.
  • Develop annual budgets, operational plans, and capital improvement recommendations for all agronomy and grounds operations.
  • Supervise, train, mentor, and evaluate agronomy staff, assistant superintendents, and grounds personnel.
  • Coordinate hiring, onboarding, development, and performance management of department employees.
  • Maintain records related to chemical applications, fertilizer programs, fuel usage, irrigation, and maintenance activities.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations regarding chemicals, pesticides, and environmental practices.
  • Manage procurement and inventory of fertilizers, chemicals, equipment, and grounds supplies.
  • Work closely with the Director of Golf to coordinate golf events, tournaments, maintenance schedules, and course conditions.
  • Communicate regularly with members regarding course conditions, projects, and agronomic practices.
  • Lead construction projects, course renovations, and grounds improvement initiatives.
  • Stay current on industry trends, turfgrass research, technology, and best management practices.
