General Description: The Evening House Charge Nurse provides shift‑based leadership and clinical oversight for Medical‑Surgical, Emergency Department, and Labor & Delivery departments. This role ensures safety, high‑quality, and compliant patient care across all departments while supporting nursing staff and coordinating clinical operations. It functions autonomously, demonstrates strong clinical judgment, and provides hands‑on support during high census, emergencies, and staffing challenges. The nurse manages multiple cases simultaneously, prioritizes needs continually, maintains required inventory of supplies and equipment in the emergency department, and provides teaching and information to patients and families.

The nurse evaluates the quality of nursing practice, attends required training and continuing education events, and assists all departments with patient care, admissions, assessments, discharges, and transfers. Other duties may be assigned.

Education: Must complete an accredited Registered Nurse (RN) program and be licensed as an RN by the Texas State Board of Nursing. Current and active Texas State RN License, CPR, ACLS, PALS, NRP, and TNCC are required (or will be received upon hire).

Training &

Experience:

Minimum 2 years of acute care nursing experience, with demonstrated clinical experience in Medical–Surgical nursing. Emergency Department (ED) experience required; willingness to learn labor and delivery.

Duty

Hours:

Evening Shift – Monday through Friday evening shift with every 6th weekend on call.
