Position Purpose
Pro Assistant Sales Manager (PASM) in Training are gaining hands-on experience in the responsibilities and functions of the Pro Assistant Sales Manager role. Throughout their training, PASMs in Training will become familiar with Manager on Duty responsibilities and will learn to oversee the in-store Pro Department Operations to ensure the successful execution of key programs that enhance customer service, and store presentation.
Training will focus on driving profitability and mitigating shrinkage by managing associates and operations to meet sales goals, ensuring product availability, and maintaining Pro standards. PASMs in Training will collaborate with the Store Manager, Assistant Store Managers (ASMs), and field leaders to learn, develop and implement strategies that boost sales and profitability, creating actionable game plans for departmental success, managing direct reports, and ensuring smooth department operations.
PASMs in Training will learn to direct associates to the store’s top priorities, provide regular coaching, and ensure their teams are well-versed in Pro Operations and services. By leading through example, PASMs in Training will champion people-centered leadership while consistently delivering results in sales, customer service, and profitability. Pro Assistant Sales Manager in Training have a duty to uphold, maintain, and support all lawful company policies and positions.
During the PASM in Training period, which will be up to 6 weeks, you will be learning to execute PASM key responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities- 15% - Customer Service / Experience
- Drive customer service and associate engagement; coach associates on proper customer service techniques and ensure team is providing the highest level of customer service. Lead GET culture and set the example, observe customer interactions, recognize wins and coach on ways to improve. Teach, coach and train Department Supervisors (DSs) and associates on, customer service standards and operational excellent to improve profitability.
Manage customer service activities, so as to optimize and sustain sales performance, profitability, and customer satisfaction. Ensure Customer concerns are solved effectively and take necessary actions to resolve situations promptly. Ensure all associates understand the importance of excellent customer service, in-stock, and store appearance. Recognize great customer service behaviors using recognition tools. Provide feedback on service standards - 20% - People
- Make recommendations in the selection process by assisting with recruitment, and interviews, and makes decisions on qualified candidates to hire. Review personal KD training completion and ensure Depts Knowledge Depot Training is current and promote engagement through use of learning tools available on the HDphone (e.g., Pocket Guide).. Evaluate performance and take action as necessary for personnel actions, which include: work allocation, training, development, performance management, compensation, problem resolution, discipline and terminations.
Monitor associate engagement levels and drive voice of the associate initiatives. Identify and resolve associate’s concerns. Delegate tasks to DSs and teach them to utilize store platforms to assign tasks and follow up with their associates. Use coaching as a collaborative approach to improve performance through goal setting, providing feedback, and maintaining relationships; provide in the moment coaching based on observations and behavior and support active associate development.
