CNC Machinist, Machine Operator
We are seeking a highly skilled and self‑directed Class A Machinist to join our precision manufacturing team. In this senior role, you will be responsible for the end‑to‑end fabrication of complex, tight‑tolerance parts, tools, and fixtures. You must be proficient in planning the sequence of operations, performing advanced setups, programming/editing controls, and operating both CNC and manual machinery. The ideal candidate works with minimal supervision and can solve complex machining challenges on the fly.
Salary: $58,000 - $72,000 per year.
Shift: First.
Work hours:
5:30 AM - 4 PM.
Education:
High School.
- Setup & Operation: Independently set up, adjust, and operate a variety of machine shop equipment, including CNC mills, CNC lathes, manual Bridgeport‑style mills, engine lathes, grinders, and drill presses.
- Blueprint Reading & GD&T: Interpret complex engineering blueprints, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) specifications, and CAD/CAM files to determine part dimensions and tolerances.
- Programming & Control: Set tooling parameters and make on‑the‑fly edits or corrections to G‑code/M‑code programs at the machine controller. Experience with CAM software is highly valued.
- Precision Measurement: Perform first‑article, in‑process, and final quality control inspections using precision instruments like micrometers, vernier calipers, dial indicators, depth gauges, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM).
- Tooling & Fixturing: Design, fabricate, and modify custom jigs, work‑holding fixtures, and specialty tooling required for complex setups.
- Materials & Speed Rates: Calculate and set optimal cutting speeds, feed rates, depth of cuts, and coolant flow based on the properties of various raw materials (e.g., steel, aluminum, titanium, plastics).
- Maintenance & Safety: Perform routine preventative machine maintenance, diagnose equipment malfunctions, and maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
