Pet Stylist

As a Pet Stylist at Petco, you will be responsible for providing professional grooming services to our valued customers' pets, ensuring exceptional care, and maintaining high standards of safety, comfort, and customer service.

• Perform grooming services: bathing, drying, brushing, haircuts, nail trimming, ear cleaning, gland cleaning.
• Operate and maintain grooming instruments and equipment.
• Prioritize pet safety, monitor health signs, and report concerns.
• Assess pet needs (coat, skin, temperament) and customize care.
• Provide customer service, answer questions, and recommend products.
• Educate pet owners on at‑home maintenance.
• Maintain a clean, sanitary grooming area and tools.
• Adhere to Petco grooming policies, standards, and guidelines.
• Assist with training, support, and supervision of trainees when needed.

• Completion of Pet Stylist Apprentice program or equivalent professional groomer experience.
• High‑school diploma or GED (preferred).
• Ability to use grooming skills to solve problems independently with guidance.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to productivity.
• Passion for animals and desire to continue a career in pet grooming.
• Knowledge of dog breeds, grooming requirements, health issues, and common behaviors.
• Proficiency in breed‑specific cuts, styling techniques, and grooming standards.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Capability to handle pets of all sizes and temperaments.
• Availability to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as scheduled.

Indoors grooming salon; requires bending, kneeling, lifting up to 30 pounds, standing for long periods, exposure to heights. Work can be noisy and wet.

Salary Range: $15.00 - $25.00 per hour. Sign‑On Bonus: $500 after 90 days. Retention Bonus: $1,000 after 1 year. Medical, dental, vision, 401k, PTO, and Petco Discounts. Equipment and supplies provided.
