Gurwin Healthcare System is a full continuum of care providing extraordinary care and caring to the people that we serve. Set on a 36-acre campus in Commack, NY, the Gurwin Healthcare System includes the 460-bed Gurwin Jewish Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, providing short-term rehabilitation and long-term skilled nursing care, memory care, respiratory and ventilator care, palliative and hospice care, social and medical adult day programs, and on-site dialysis and infusion therapy.
Sharing the campus is Gurwin’s Assisted Living community (Gurwin Jewish : Fay J. Lindner Residences), our independent living community (Fountaingate Gardens) and Gurwin Certified and Licensed Home Care Services Agencies.
We currently have a unique career opportunity for a full-time Staff Accountant in our Finance Department. You will be scheduled to work Monday through Friday 8:30am to 5:00pm.
Education and Experience Requirements2 Years Of Accounting Experience, Health Care Preferred
Responsibilities- Review cash deposits on a daily basis and reconcile to the Accounts Receivable General Ledger interface.
- Preparation of monthly cash log and related schedules.
- On a monthly basis prepare bank reconciliations and investment schedules that agree to the General Ledger.
- Maintains schedule of prepaid expenses and prepares monthly journal entries to expense correct portion.
- Prepare journal entries related to bank reconciliations and cash activity.
- Manage Fixed Assets for multiple organizations including tracking additions and year end reconciliations.
- Record interest revenue for patient funds and advise the Patient Trust Clerk so that quarterly statements can be processed.
- Prepare journal entries as it relates to biweekly payroll for all companies (transfers and taxes).
- Assist with unclaimed funds and abandoned property filings.
- Responsible for monthly financial statements and review of actual vs. budget.
- Prepare account analyses for year‑end audit as requested by the Chief Financial Officer / Director of Finance.
- Assist in cost report preparation as needed.
