Deli Specialist

Job Summary

As a Deli Department Associate, you will slice, package, weigh, and sell various deli products, including meats and cheeses. You will maintain the presentation and cleanliness of the deli, including display cases, and provide assistance to customers in the deli department.

• Provide high level customer service to members.
• Answer questions and recommend deli items.
• Answer member calls and take special orders.
• Slices, packages, and weighs deli products, including cheeses and meats.
• Help members select the correct products.
• Sample product to assist in purchasing decisions.
• Prepare and package special orders and party trays.
• Receive and inspect deli shipments.
• Display, stock, rotate, and store deli products following food safety, freshness, and product handling policies.
• Ensure all products are fresh and meet company quality standards.
• Check for out-of-date products daily and follow appropriate salvage policies.
• Ensure deli cooler shelves and display cases have a wide variety of products.
• Stock and rotate deli items when necessary.
• Operate and handle deli equipment in accordance with safety policies.
• Clean and sanitize deli equipment and food surfaces throughout the department.
• Ensure scale systems are in working order and items are weighed and priced accurately.
• Maintain all club policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned, including working in other departments as needed.
• Maintain predictable full attendance.

• Work experience in a deli department preferred.
• Prior experience operating manual/power slicers and scales preferred.
• Knowledge of deli products preferred.
• At least 18 years of age.

Most of the time is spent moving frequently on hard surfaces. Occasionally you may need to bend, handle, pull, reach, or stoop to examine or scan merchandise. Frequently requires lifting objects up to 30 pounds; may require lifting or moving items greater than 30 pounds with assistance. Work is performed in a comfortable indoor environment with exposure to temperature extremes from freezers, ovens, and coolers, and frequent exposure to cleaning agents.

• Pay range: $18.75 - $22.97 per hour.
