Position Summary
Liberty Moving & Storage is seeking an experienced Commercial Sales Manager to lead our commercial sales team and oversee the continued success of our commercial moving division. This position is responsible for managing, coaching, and developing the sales team while maintaining and expanding relationships with our existing commercial clients.
The Commercial Sales Manager will oversee the sales process from proposal through project execution, ensuring a seamless customer experience by working closely with operations and other internal departments. While developing new business opportunities is encouraged and valued, the primary focus of this role is leading the sales team, supporting existing client relationships, and maximizing growth within our current customer base.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong sales management experience, excellent communication skills, and a passion for developing people, delivering exceptional customer service, and driving operational excellence.
Responsibilities
Sales Leadership
* Lead, mentor, coach, and develop the commercial sales team.
* Establish sales goals, performance expectations, and accountability measures.
* Conduct regular one-on-one coaching sessions and monthly department meetings.
* Monitor team performance through reporting, analytics, and sales metrics.
* Recruit, interview, onboard, train, and evaluate team members.
* Conduct performance reviews and address performance concerns when necessary.
* Foster a collaborative, customer-focused, and results-oriented sales culture.
Client Relationship Management
* Build, maintain, and strengthen relationships with existing commercial clients.
* Serve as a senior point of contact for key accounts.
* Identify opportunities to expand services within existing customer relationships.
* Ensure exceptional customer service throughout every stage of the sales and moving process.
* Work proactively to retain customers and encourage repeat business.
Sales & Business Development
* Support the sales team in generating and managing qualified leads.
* Assist with developing sales strategies that increase customer retention and market growth.
* Participate in networking events, trade organizations, and industry functions as appropriate.
* Identify and pursue new business opportunities when appropriate; however, the primary focus of this role is supporting the sales team and growing our existing commercial business.
Proposal & Estimating Oversight
* Review and assist with commercial proposals, presentations, bids, and sales materials.
* Oversee and provide guidance on:
* Walk-through estimates vs. sales appointments
* RFP responses
* Inside pricing
* Flat-rate vs. Time & Material pricing
* Hourly pricing
* Job costing and truckload calculations
* Commercial moving terminology and industry standards
* Review orders, contracts, and Certificates of Insurance (COIs) for accuracy and completeness.
Operations & Project Coordination
* Maintain an organized sales pipeline and workflow.
* Partner closely with warehouse and operations teams to ensure seamless project execution.
* Oversee project handoffs from sales to operations.
* Monitor project progress and customer satisfaction from initial proposal through completion.
* Help resolve customer concerns and ensure successful project outcomes.
Strategic Account Development
* Become familiar with major commercial accounts, procurement organizations, and strategic partnerships.
* Assist the sales team in identifying opportunities to strengthen and expand existing business relationships.
Administrative Responsibilities
* Maintain CRM data and sales reporting.
* Monitor sales trends and forecast future business opportunities.
* Assist with website updates, marketing materials, and promotional initiatives.
* Oversee departmental scheduling and timekeeping.
Qualifications
* Five (5) or more years of sales experience, preferably in commercial moving, logistics, transportation, business services, or a related industry.
* Previous experience leading, coaching, and managing a sales team.
* Demonstrated success managing customer relationships and improving team performance.
* Business development experience is preferred but not required.
* Strong leadership, coaching, and employee development skills.
* Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and interpersonal abilities.
* Experience using CRM software and Microsoft Office applications.
* Strong organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills.
* Ability to build long-term relationships with clients, employees, and business partners.
