Fireproofing General Labor Technician

This role supports fireproofing crews by maintaining clean, safe work areas and assisting with material handling, preparation, and application tasks on commercial construction projects throughout the Denver metro area. You will work closely with a small crew, helping set up and break down job sites, moving and staging materials, and following all safety procedures to ensure efficient and high-quality fireproofing operations.

Responsibilities

  • Clean and maintain designated work areas by removing debris, sweeping, and organizing materials to keep the job site safe and efficient.
  • Assist fireproofers by moving, staging, and preparing fireproofing materials and equipment for daily operations.
  • Load and unload supplies, tools, and equipment from vehicles and staging areas as needed.
  • Set up work areas, including covering surfaces and protecting adjacent areas from overspray before fireproofing begins.
  • Break down work areas at the end of each shift, ensuring tools, equipment, and materials are properly stored and the site is left clean.
  • Support fireproofers during application by handing tools, mixing materials, and performing other tasks as directed by the crew lead.
  • Follow all safety procedures and guidelines, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
  • Operate basic construction tools and equipment safely under supervision, such as scissor lifts when appropriately trained and authorized.
  • Communicate effectively with crew members to coordinate tasks and maintain smooth workflow throughout the day.
  • Arrive on time to assigned job sites across the Denver metro area and be prepared to work scheduled shifts.

Essential Skills

  • At least 1 year of previous commercial construction or general labor experience.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Reliable and punctual, with a strong commitment to consistent attendance.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a small crew and follow directions from supervisors.
  • Capability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, carrying, and standing for extended periods.
  • Basic understanding of construction site safety practices.
  • Willingness to wear and properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE).

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience supporting fireproofing or similar construction trades is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with commercial construction environments.
  • Knowledge of fireproofing processes and materials is a plus.
  • OSHA 10 certification is advantageous.
  • Experience operating scissor lifts or similar equipment is helpful.
  • Strong teamwork skills and a positive attitude toward learning a trade.

Work Environment

This role follows a Monday–Friday schedule, typically working either 6:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m. or 7:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m., depending on project needs. Projects take place across the Denver metro area, so you will report to various job sites as assigned. You will work on a small crew, generally around four people, providing a close-knit team environment with direct support and guidance. The work is performed on active commercial construction sites, which may involve working at heights, using scissor lifts, and operating around other trades and equipment.

The setting requires consistent use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to all safety protocols, with attire suitable for construction work, including sturdy footwear and clothing appropriate for a job site.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $23.00/hr eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
