Production Manager

Flexicrew Technical Services (FTS) is seeking a Production Manager to lead production operations for a growing electrical equipment manufacturing and service organization. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing transformer and switch gear production, ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule while maintaining the highest quality standards. The ideal candidate is an experienced manufacturing leader with a strong background in production planning, employee development, continuous improvement, and industrial operations.
Essential Duties:
Lead daily production operations for transformer and switch gear departments through direct supervision of production leadership.
Develop and execute daily and weekly production schedules to meet customer commitments and company objectives.
Evaluate labor availability, materials, equipment, and production readiness to ensure safe and efficient operations.
Monitor production performance and communicate schedule updates, resource needs, production risks, and corrective actions to leadership.
Coach, mentor, and develop production supervisors while fostering accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
Support recruiting, onboarding, performance management, employee development, and succession planning.
Promote a positive workplace culture focused on safety, communication, ownership, and operational excellence.
Ensure compliance with company safety policies, OSHA regulations, environmental requirements, PPE standards, and facility housekeeping practices.
Maintain organized production areas utilizing 5S principles and conduct regular workplace inspections.
Ensure adherence to quality standards, operating procedures, testing requirements, and production documentation.
Investigate quality issues, production failures, and rework while implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Develop and maintain production reports, procedures, work instructions, and operational documentation.
Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on workflow optimization, labor utilization, production capacity, standardization, and efficiency.
Collaborate with engineering, project management, purchasing, fabrication, field service, quality, and sales teams to ensure successful project execution.
Manage production costs by monitoring labor utilization, overtime, inventory, scrap, rework, and outside services.
Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs), including production efficiency, quality, on-time delivery, safety, inventory, and throughput.
Requirements/
Skills:
Minimum of five (5) years of manufacturing, production, or industrial operations leadership experience.
Experience supervising production supervisors, department managers, or manufacturing teams.
Experience with in transformer, switch gear, electrical distribution equipment, power systems, equipment remanufacturing, or a related heavy industrial manufacturing environment strongly preferred.
Strong background in production planning, scheduling, inventory management, quality systems, cost control, and continuous improvement.
Knowledge of OSHA regulations, workplace safety, environmental compliance, and 5S manufacturing principles.
Excellent leadership, coaching, mentoring, conflict resolution, and employee development skills.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to prepare reports, procedures, and operational documentation.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining production schedules and customer commitments.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to work in both office and industrial manufacturing environments.
Frequent walking throughout production facilities, warehouses, and shop areas.
Ability to stand for extended periods and occasionally climb stairs, bend, kneel, or reach as required.
Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds occasionally.
Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) while working in production areas.
