Inventory Parts Clerk – Food Production

The Inventory Parts Clerk supports flour production operations by ensuring all spare parts and production components are accurately tracked, stored, ordered and delivered to the appropriate departments or department leads. This role is essential for minimizing equipment downtime, maintaining compliance with food safety standards, and supporting continuous production flow.

Key Responsibilities
  • Receive, inspect, and verify incoming parts for accuracy.
  • Deliver to the correct location and ensure accuracy in the parts tracking software.
  • Record inventory transactions receiving in, transferring or other dispositioning of parts in the CMMS system with high accuracy.
  • Store parts in designated, sanitary locations following food safety and electrical guidelines.
  • Support the Maintenance Planner by staging, kitting, and verifying required parts availability for planned maintenance work.
  • Maintain proper organization, labeling, counts and accurate locations to support parts availability and accuracy.
  • Conduct routine cycle counts and assist with full physical inventory audits.
  • Monitor stock levels via the MRO shortage report and order based on proper min/max levels.
  • Continuously review min/max levels on parts, as well as transaction history to ensure the correct levels are set.
  • Ensure compliance with GMPs, HACCP, and company food safety policies in all inventory areas.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe parts room using 5S principles.
  • Process returns, warranty parts, rebuilds and defective items according to company procedures.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in food production, warehousing, or inventory control preferred.
  • Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems (SAP, D365, Limble, JD Edwards, etc.)
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and operate material‑handling equipment.
  • Understanding of GMPs, food safety standards, and sanitation requirements.
  • Forklift certification or willingness to obtain one.

  • Detail‑oriented: ensures precise counts, labeling, and traceability.
  • Organization: maintains a clean, compliant, and efficient parts storage area.
  • Communication: works effectively with maintenance and production teams.
  • Problem‑solving: identifies discrepancies and resolves inventory issues quickly.
  • Tech‑savvy: eager to master the CMMS system to provide training to others and effectively troubleshoot and resolve issues.
Work Environment

Food production facility and parts room setting. Frequent standing, walking, lifting, and handling of materials. Exposure to all weather production areas (including very warm days) depending on facility layout. Fast‑paced environment with shifting priorities based on production needs. Team members must be clean shaven in order to perform tasks where respiratory protection is required and the use of a respirator (including N‑95 dust mask) requires a proper seal for adequate protection.
