Position: Biological Science Technician (Wildlife) (Seasonal)

You will serve as a Biological Science Technician (Wildlife) (Seasonal) GS-05 working in one of the following locations:
Commerce City CO - Colorado Front Range National Wildlife Refuge Complex
Jackson WY - National Elk Refuge

Open to the first 150 applicants.

All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-09/21/2026-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement.

To receive credit for experience, your resume MUST state either "full-time" (or "40 hours a week") or "part-time" with the number of hours worked per week to ensure proper crediting of specialized experience. Failure to adequately provide information needed to determine number of hours worked in each position may result in that time not being credited when evaluating qualifying experience. For periods of time that reflect military service, the DD-214 or Statement of Service is sufficient to meet the full and/or part-time hours requirement as the service dates will be reflected.

Minimum

Qualification Requirements Minimum Qualification [GS-05]
  • One year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility equivalent to grade GS-04 in the Federal service. Experience may include
    1) assisting in the planning and conducting of wildlife censuses and surveys;
    2) capturing, handling, and tagging a variety of wildlife;
    3) assisting with wildlife studies; and
    4) recording scientific data to prepare reports.
    OR
  • A bachelor's degree, or have successfully completed of a 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major field of study (or at least 24 semester hours of study) in biology, chemistry, statistics, entomology, animal husbandry, botany, physics, agriculture, or mathematics. At least 6 semester hours are directly related to this position.

  • A combination of education and experience as described in 1 and 2 above which together equals 100% of the requirement.
