General Purpose
The hiring range is $28.46 - $31.62 / Hourly. Are you passionate about building safe, healthy, and thriving communities? The City is seeking a dedicated Code Enforcement Inspector to join our Code Enforcement Division and help uphold the standards that protect our residents’ quality of life. In this role, you will conduct professional field inspections, investigate code-related concerns, and manage cases to ensure compliance with municipal codes, land development regulations, and applicable international codes.
Working under general supervision, you’ll play a key part in educating the public, promoting voluntary compliance, and applying fair, consistent enforcement practices.

High school diploma or GED required. Two years of code enforcement work experience to include public interaction, conflict resolution, and familiarity with legal procedures is required. An equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered. Must possess a valid driver’s license with a safe driving record (and maintain while employed in this position).
Must possess, or be able to obtain, a Basic Code Enforcement Certification through the Colorado Association of Code Enforcement Officials within two years from the date of hire, and a Housing and Property Maintenance Inspector Certification through the International Code Council (ICC) within one year from the date of hire.

Process OverviewQualification Review: HR will screen applications for minimum qualifications weekly.
Application Review:
Applications will be reviewed weekly. Applications from candidates who meet the minimum qualifications will be forwarded to the hiring manager, who will review materials.
Phone Screen(s):
Due to the high volume of applications, phone screens may be conducted to identify the best-qualified candidates.
Interview(s):
We aim to schedule in-person interviews with candidates who meet the minimum qualifications and pass the application review and phone screen (if applicable).

To encourage the development of employee computer skills, the City offers an interest-free loan to you for the purchase of computer hardware (including a Desktop or Laptop) and software. The employee must have successfully completed their 6-month Introductory Period for eligibility. - Recreation Center Membership:
Employees and family members are eligible for a membership to the Commerce City Recreation Center for $5.00 per person per year. - Golf Course Green Fees:
Employees can play the City's award-winning Buffalo Run Golf Course at a rate of $9.00 for 9-holes or $18.00 for 18-holes. Employees can also purchase golf merchandise at discounted prices.
