Lead Box Truck Driver
E.A. Sween is hiring a Lead Box Truck Driver in Denver, CO to support overnight delivery operations serving local King Soopers stores. This role is ideal for an experienced 26-ft box-truck driver who enjoys helping others, solving problems, and stepping in when the team needs support.
This is a working Lead position — not a desk job. In a typical week, the role is approximately 50% driver leadership and operational support and 50% driving and route coverage, although business needs can change.
PAY & SCHEDULE
• $29.00 per hour
• Fixed 4-day workweek
• 6:00 PM hard start time
• Typical shifts run 8–12 hours
• Local routes — home daily
• Overtime available, common, and may be required
• Weekends and holidays required
• May be called in on scheduled days off when route coverage is needed
WHAT YOU'LL DO
• Support drivers and daily overnight delivery operations
• Run routes when coverage is needed due to call-offs or operational needs
• Train new drivers on safe driving, delivery procedures, and route expectations
• Help drivers resolve route and delivery issues
• Support the Distribution Supervisor with daily operational needs
• Monitor truck readiness, cleanliness, and maintenance concerns
• Review manifests, DOT logs, and required driver documentation
• Report attendance, performance, safety, and operational concerns to leadership
• Help unload inbound product, stage product, load trucks, and organize empty crates
• Drive a 26-ft non-CDL straight truck
• Complete 12–16 King Soopers deliveries when covering routes
• Make front-door deliveries using a liftgate
• Move most store deliveries using shopping carts
• Collect empty crates for return
WHAT YOU NEED
• At least 3 years of verifiable 26-ft box-truck driving experience
• Valid driver's license and acceptable MVR
• Must be at least 21 years old
• Strong communication, dependability, and problem-solving skills
• Willingness to actively drive and cover routes when needed
• Comfortable training and supporting other drivers
• Ability to pass required DOT physical, drug screen, lifting assessment, criminal background check, and MVR review
• Ability to repeatedly lift up to 75 lbs. and push/pull up to 250 lbs.
• Comfortable working overnight, weekends, holidays, and additional hours when needed
