Dental Assistant - Mobile Dental Unit
Salary: $24 to $26 an hour

High school diploma or GED
Completion of accredited dental assisting courses
Radiation Safety Certificate
8-hour Infection Control (per CA Dental Board) + current CPR and First Aid
Coronal Polish certificate required as of Jan 1, 2025
Active Class A driver's license
Bilingual English/Spanish (required)
Ability to work two Saturdays per month and travel to multiple sites

Job Overview
We're seeking a dedicated Dental Assistant to support a Mobile Dental Unit serving diverse communities throughout Los Angeles County. In this role, you will perform oral screenings, provide chairside support, participate in community outreach, and help patients overcome barriers to accessing quality dental care.
The ideal candidate is compassionate, adaptable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced mobile/clinic environment. This position requires daily travel between mobile sites, coordination with schools and community partners, and flexibility with scheduling - including two Saturdays each month.
Responsibilities
Educate and counsel patients to ensure a positive dental experience
Teach proper oral hygiene techniques (brushing, flossing)
Assist chairside with exams, prophylaxis, sealants, fillings, and extractions
Perform sealants and prophylaxis under provider supervision
Apply fluoride, take impressions, remove sutures (under direct supervision)
Assist with oral screenings and community outreach
Take vital signs and notify the dentist of concerning readings
Accurately record treatment information in the patient's electronic chart
Prepare, clean, and restock the operatory between patients
Maintain operatory logs, suction lines, and Dental Unit Waterlines
Operate radiographic equipment; take intraoral/extraoral photos
Ensure compliance with sterilization, infection control, and HIPAA regulations
Coordinate care with schools, nurses, and parents for school-based programs
Travel to designated sites daily and complete mileage logs
Work two Saturdays per month at mobile or clinic sites
