- Leadership – Reporting into the Controller, the Assistant Controller manages, leads and develops direct reports (all Finance team members other than the Controller). Capable of performing the tasks of the Controller in their absence.
- Business Partnering – Presents financial information and perspectives to all levels of the organization, including C‑suite and Board of Directors. Identifies business risk and opportunities with cross‑functional teams, develops mitigation plans, automates standard work processes to reduce administrative burden and risk of error, prepares robust financial business cases for capital investment proposals, and performs in‑depth financial analysis to facilitate decision making.
- Budgeting – Leads the annual budget process, ensuring timely completion of deliverables and challenging departments regarding expense, capital, productivity and headcount plans. Prepares, distributes and consolidates budget review files in collaboration with departments and loads financial statements into divisional and corporate consolidation systems.
- Forecasting – Prepares and presents monthly rolling forecast updates for income statement, balance sheet and cash flow, and maintains a confidential personnel database to ensure accurate financial forecasting.
- Period Close Management – Leads the monthly and quarterly close cycles, supporting the team to prepare the full set of financial statements and present them to the Controller.
- Business Review – Co‑ordinates and prepares the monthly business review package, ensuring accurate information is received on time from other departments and challenging as necessary.
- Compliance – SOX compliance SPA liaison with internal and external audit, coordinates documentation requests with internal departments, provides information for local, state and federal tax requirements, and maintains RCM and critical testing documentation to reflect business conditions.
- Inventory – Owns inventory control scope, related entries and account reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards. Prepares work order variance analysis, identifies root causes and takes corrective actions. Ensures inventory risk is reviewed monthly with appropriate reserves made, prepares annual cost roll data and leads implementation, oversees the cycle count process ensuring accuracy >95% and implements improvement actions, and leads the annual physical inventory process with effective duty designation, result collation and outcome communication.
- Required Behaviours – Independent critical thinking, ability to drive improvements without prescriptive instructions, presentation skills at all management levels, ability to prioritize effectively, calm under pressure, time‑management, high performance leadership, integrity, initiative in leading the team and non‑Finance personnel, diligence, attention to detail, positive attitude, willingness to grow, solid understanding of US GAAP and State/Federal tax laws, and on‑site presence 5 days at Commerce, CA.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or business
- Team leading/supervisory experience
- 7+ years in a manufacturing environment with demonstrable cost accounting capability
- Strong ERP understanding and ability to identify/implement improvements with IT support
- Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills, and knowledge of SQL/BI dashboard building
Expected pay range: $130,000–$150,000. Variation may depend on qualifications, skills, experience, competencies and geographic location. Some roles may qualify for extra incentives such as equity, commissions or other variable performance‑related bonuses.
