Education Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations, Finance, or a related field preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience in purchasing, inventory control, procurement, or manufacturing may be considered.
Experience Requirements
  • 3+ years of purchasing, procurement, inventory management, supply chain, or materials planning experience required.
  • Experience in food manufacturing, beverage production, dairy processing, pharmaceutical manufacturing, or another regulated environment strongly preferred.
  • Experience using ERP systems such as Sage 100, MRP software, or similar inventory management systems.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and the ability to analyze purchasing, inventory, and supplier performance data.
  • Strong negotiation, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.
Physical Capabilities
  • Primarily office-based within a manufacturing facility.
  • Ability to move between office, warehouse, receiving, and manufacturing areas as needed.
  • Must comply with GMP, food safety, and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, and use a computer for extended periods.
  • Flexible schedule availability to respond to urgent supplier, inventory, or production issues when necessary.
Job Duties
  • Purchase raw materials, ingredients, packaging, labels, sanitation supplies, and other production materials to support manufacturing operations.
  • Analyze production schedules, forecasts, inventory levels, supplier lead times, and safety stock requirements to ensure material availability.
  • Create, issue, track, and maintain purchase orders within Sage 100 or other ERP systems.
  • Monitor supplier performance, delivery schedules, pricing, quality, and inventory levels to support uninterrupted production.
  • Coordinate with production, operations, quality, receiving, accounting, and suppliers to resolve shortages, delivery issues, and purchasing discrepancies.
  • Maintain accurate purchasing records, inventory data, and supplier information.
  • Support inventory control through cycle counts, inventory analysis, and management of slow‑moving or obsolete materials.
  • Negotiate pricing, lead times, freight terms, and supply agreements with approved vendors.
  • Partner with cross‑functional teams to support new product launches, packaging changes, and production planning initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, GMP, quality assurance, supplier approval, and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify cost‑saving opportunities, process improvements, and supply chain efficiencies while maintaining product quality and service levels.
