This position is responsible for laying out, fitting, and welding fabricated components to assemble structural forms, such as frames or cabinets according to job specifications. The role includes selecting equipment, planning layout, assembly, and welding, applying knowledge of geometry, physical properties of metal, machining, welding shrinkage, and welding techniques.

Principal Accountabilities
  • Assemble and weld cabinets, roof hatches, louvers, frames, tops and bottoms per job specifications.
  • May assemble parts by bolting and riveting.
  • Assemble thin metal structures and large frame structures using a welder.
  • Repair products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, and reassembling parts, using cutting torch, straightening press, and hand tools.
  • Move assembled product to the next production area to complete the finished product per job specification.
  • Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and product quality.
  • Report immediately to supervisor/lead/manager any and all problems that may affect safety, equipment, tooling, and/or quality.
  • Maintain full working knowledge of all processes.
  • Ensure a clean and organized work environment.
  • Adhere to all company standards and policies.
  • Conduct themselves in a professional manner in accordance with company guidelines.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to operate machines including, but not limited to bar code reader, computer terminal, other electronic devices, and forklift.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows applications and capacity to learn new systems.
  • Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills and effective organizational skills.
  • Effective communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Tenacity in overcoming obstacles while maintaining productive and positive working relationships.
  • Ability to execute in a rapidly changing fast-paced environment that requires strong teamwork.
  • Understanding of all tools, gages, equipment, and other instruments used to perform the position.
  • Basic ability to understand blueprints, schematics, and instrumentation diagrams.
  • Skill in performing accurate arithmetic functions involving addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division; using decimals, percentages, fractions, and ratios.
Education and Experience
  • Equivalent of high school diploma or G.E.D. certification.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of welding experience with both M.I.G. & T.I.G. welders preferred.

The employee may be required to work with hazardous materials. The employee may be exposed to hot surfaces, hot air, electrical hazards, and flames. While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works with moving machinery and occasionally in outside weather.
