The Grant Writer II will have the primary responsibility of assisting in the preparation and submission of grant applications for responding to Requests for Proposals (RFPs) issued by federal, state, local, corporate and foundation, and/or private agencies. The Junior Grant Writer will work closely with the Director of Grants Development, Senior Grant Writers, and program staff to ensure proposals are compelling, comprehensive, and aligned with Alta Med’s mission.

The Junior Grant Writer coordinates, manages, and at times leads the internal and/or external partner proposal development team process, both soliciting information from partners and crafting the narrative and budget of a proposal. The Junior Grant Writer will be responsible for the timely completion of the proposal development process by the submission of a comprehensive application by the RFP deadline.

This position may also proactively seek funding opportunities to be presented to leadership for approval to pursue. This position may also develop concept papers that explain and showcase best practices that expand and enhance Alta Med initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assisting in preparation and submission of grant applications for RFPs from federal, state, local, corporate, foundation and private agencies.
  • Collaborating with the Director of Grants Development, Senior Grant Writers and program staff to ensure proposals are compelling, comprehensive and aligned with Alta Med’s mission.
  • Coordinating, managing and sometimes leading the internal/external partner proposal development team, soliciting information from partners and crafting narrative and budget.
  • Ensuring timely completion of the proposal development process and submission of comprehensive applications by RFP deadlines.
  • Proactively seeking funding opportunities for leadership approval.
  • Developing concept papers that showcase best practices to expand and enhance Alta Med initiatives.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Public Health, Communications, or related field required.
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in grant writing and non-profit development.
Compensation

Annual salary range: $74,611.99 - $93,265.00. The exact compensation will depend on various factors including budget, experience, skills, education, licensure, certifications, and other business considerations.

Summary of additional potential compensation: discretionary bonuses or incentives.
