We are searching for an experiencedFood Safety & Quality Assurance Field Specialist for our Store Support Center located at 600 Citadel Drive, Commerce, CA, 90040.
SUMMARY
The Food Safety & Quality Assurance Field Specialist is responsible for conducting daily routine audits of stores to verify ongoing policy and regulatory compliance related to food safety, while acting as a primary resource for associates to address questions/concerns. The Food Safety Specialist also assists in the development of tools for the Food Safety &Quality Assurance program in accordance with government and Chedraui USAstandards, as well as other related duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned or required:
- Conduct daily routine audits of stores to verify ongoing compliance with company food safety and quality assurance policies and regulatory standards.
- Act as a primary resource for associates to address questions and/or concerns about regulatory inspections. This may include acting as intermediary between the company and regulator to facilitate resolution of disputes.
- Support food safety culture in store; set and communicate expectations with regard to food safety; observe employees and management practices to ensure food safety is an important and integrated part of employee's work.
- Assist in the development of tools; implementation, management, and monitoring performance of the Food Safety & Quality Assurance program to assure that food safety, store cleanliness and store conditions are maintained to government and Chedraui USA standards.
- Review facility performance against benchmark standards to track progress and identify improvement opportunities and priorities.
- Provide assessments and recommendations to leadership teams regarding compliance with food safety, cleanliness, and store condition standards.
- Assists with investigations and troubleshooting of facility or product concerns; implements corrective action as needed.
- Provide daily reporting of key food safety and sanitation indicators including pest management. Coordinate with pest control companies for pest control service and ensure proper services are provided.
- Implement and conduct team member training on compliance-related topics, policies, or procedures.
- Travel to various store locations.
- 15% travel by airplane including overnight stays monthly.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health, Food Science, or related science field
- Previous experience implementing and overseeing food safety, sanitation, and quality assurance programs in a retail, grocery, or quick service environment.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and municipal laws regarding food protection and retail food store sanitation.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record as reported on annual Motor Vehicle Business report; travel multiple times weekly to store locations, spend overnight as required for out-of-town locations.
- Punctual and reliable.

- Registered Environmental Health Specialist (REHS) or Certified Professional-Food Safety (CP-FS) or Public environmental health professional with experience in food service establishment inspections, retail food service establishment plan review, retail food establishment pre-operational inspection and code enforcement hearings
- 2 years verified corroboration experience with environmental health investigations and inspection experience with local, municipal, county health department agency or private company.
