Quality ManagerCommerce, CA, US
Salary Range: $20.00 To $30.00 Annually
ObjectiveAssist in implementing the SMI Quality system at designated SMI facility. Assist in ensuring that product and services are above customer expectations. Assist in ensuring that plant has an active training program. Perform plant quality checks per SMI’s Quality Improvement Process (QIP).
Organizational DimensionsReports to (to be determined) Vice-President Continuous Improvement - Operations.
Coordinates with VP’s, Area Managers and customers to ensure customer expectations are exceeded.
Works directly with plant employees on training and quality issues.
Key Responsibilities- Improve and implement the SMI quality system to ensure compliance with customer requirements.
- Provide periodic feedback of plants’ quality performance to personnel.
- Identify opportunities to improve plant operations and focus resources to make and maintain improvements.
- Conduct or assist with plant quality meetings.
- Updates and maintains quality records.
- Ensure compliance with QIP requirements.
- Works on new technology research and development for quality improvements.
- Benchmark and feasibility of implementation of new technology.
- Assist in project management as requested by project manager.
- Ensure maintenance programs are in place, IAW, QIP and are being followed.
- Conduct in-process cullet sampling procedures per QIP manual.
- Track quality performance, identify problem areas, take action to improve.
- Observe Quality Technicians’ actions to ensure cullet is processed to customer specification.
- Assist customer with quality initiatives and projects.
- Assist and conduct Six Sigma type projects as a green belt under the guidance of a Black Belt.
- Assist in training development and provide quality process training to plant personnel.
- Assist in rewriting manuals and standard operating procedures.
- Bilingual Spanish is a plus.
- Familiar with quality assurance procedures.
- Problem solving.
- Strong math/statistics skills, Six Sigma experience, plus.
- Capable of training subordinates.
- Strong teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong leadership skills.
- Strong work ethic and ability to work independently, with little supervision.
- Computer operation skills:
Word, Excel, Power Point, Access. - Self-starter.
