Reporting To: Assistant Store Manager, Jewelry Consultant, Sales Support and Inventory Control
Position SummaryAs Store Manager, you will lead daily operations of a single store to achieve sales, profitability, customer satisfaction, inventory control, brand representation and team development. Through personal selling, leadership and coaching you will champion a People First environment that promotes diversity, inclusion and lifelong customer relationships.
Vision and Purpose- The store’s performance is aligned with company goals and you communicate expectations clearly to all team members.
- You coach staff to consistently represent the brand and execute store visuals and marketing initiatives.
- You translate corporate strategy into actionable plans and ensure staff understands how to achieve goals.
- You model professionalism, integrity and a positive attitude that inspires and motivates others.
- Ensure an exceptional customer experience through training, outreach and clear expectations.
- Empower team members to resolve customer issues within established parameters and drive follow‑up.
- Collect and act on customer requests and feedback.
- Achieve sales projections and quotas while developing strategies to maximize personal and team potential.
- Identify opportunities for operational improvement and implement initiatives that change behavior for measurable results.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activities and advise management on merchandising needs.
- Collaborate with nearby Signet stores to share resources and achieve shared objectives.
- Lead talent acquisition, onboarding and ongoing coaching in operations, sales, customer service, product knowledge, inventory control and visual merchandising.
- Communicate performance expectations and set actionable goals; monitor progress and provide feedback.
- Encourage open communication, idea sharing and maintain accurate team data for rewards eligibility.
- Create a respectful work environment where all team members feel valued and can bring their authentic selves to work.
- Practice empathy, understanding and communication across all interactions.
- Respond promptly to management directives and maintain store cleanliness and brand standards.
- Drive outstanding sales and profit margins by controlling discounting, expenses, payroll and shop operations.
- Plan a schedule that balances operating hours, customer traffic and coaching opportunities, with a typical five‑day, 40‑hour work week during non‑peak periods (hours may increase during peak selling periods).
- Perform additional duties and projects as assigned; consistent attendance is essential.
- During non‑peak periods aim for a five‑day, 40‑hour work week.
- Schedule includes a balance of opening and closing shifts to cover operating hours, sales demand, and coaching needs.
- Peak selling periods will require increased hours.
- Education: Minimum of 2 years of college preferred.
- Experience: Minimum 3 years retail sales experience, or 2 years retail sales plus 1 year retail management; preference for specialty retail or jewelry experience.
- Certification: Diamond Council of America (DCA) certification is preferred.
- Skills: Advanced communication (written & verbal); proficiency in MS Office and related business tools; strong interpersonal, presentation, problem‑solving and conflict‑management skills.
- Other abilities: Professional communication via email, social media, video conference, phone and text; ability to set priorities, develop plans, delegate, and work independently.
- Reliability: Dependable and able to lift up to 10 pounds.
- Language: Bilingual skills are a plus.
The role requires regular standing, reaching, moving between display cases, sitting, stooping, bending, kneeling or crouching as needed. Ability to lift up to 10 pounds is required. Visual acuity sufficient to discern gemstone quality is needed. The workweek includes weekends, evenings, holidays, and extended hours. Travel for training and business meetings, including air travel and overnight stays, may be required.
