Job SummaryInstall or repair electrical systems, apparatus and components of industrial machinery, equipment or facilities. Investigate complex electrical, electronic, and associated mechanical problems, diagnose and define corrective actions. Troubleshoot or rework electrical, electronic, or pneumatic control systems.
ResponsibilitiesPerforms duties where property, tools, equipment, machines or facility may be damaged or man‑hours lost through improper maintenance. Maintains own tool kit and advises supervision when special tools are needed.
Material or Product ResponsibilitiesRequires close attention to work, supporting documentation specifications and other requirements of basic electrical principles. Responsible for proper functioning of electrical and electronic components necessary to efficient operation of production machines and equipment.
Responsibility for Work of OthersAccuracy of communication is mandatory. Must communicate any problems or concerns regarding quality, safety or timeliness. Must be able to train employees of equal or lower classification in electrical methods and procedures.
Safety ResponsibilitiesGood housekeeping. Adherence to National Electrical Code and Company Safety Rules is required.
Initiative and IngenuityRequires initiative in maintaining all electric‑related items. Makes suggestions for improving machines, equipment, lighting, wiring. Uses ingenuity in planning, layout and devising proper installations or repairs. Takes on or reports additional work as current tasks are completed.
Work EnvironmentWork is in a machine shop environment where noise, temperature fluctuations, etc. are less desirable than a typical office environment.
Unavoidable HazardsPossible hazards related to cuts, bruises, electrical burns and/or shock, finger and hand injuries and muscle strains.
