ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist the Director of Nursing with directing, evaluating, and supervising patient care and initiating corrective action as necessary.
  • Assist the Director of Nursing with assessing patient‑care needs and developing individualized plans of care.
  • Assist the Director of Nursing with assessing patient needs and making recommendations for special rehabilitation programs.
  • Assist the Director of Nursing with evaluating patient care as it relates to individualized patient needs, family involvement and the physician’s plan of care for the patient.
  • Assist the Director of Nursing with ensuring patient‑care conferences are conducted.
  • Assist the Director of Nursing with assessing patient responses to medication and treatment and making appropriate recommendations for nursing action to be implemented.
  • Assist the Director of Nursing with providing medications, treatments, diets, rehabilitation and restorative care to patients in accordance with physician orders and the patient’s individual needs.
  • Assist the Director of Nursing with reporting problems to the Administrator, conducting daily patient rounds, and initiating corrective action as necessary.
  • Assist the Director of Nursing with directing and implementing educational programs, quality assurance programs and infection control programs.
  • Assist the Director of Nursing with establishing open lines of communication with consultants and consistently following up on recommendations.
  • Assist the Director of Nursing with consistently making recommendations of level of care determinations based on physician documentation and plan of care.
  • Assist the Director of Nursing with coordinating the care‑planning/MDS process and committee meetings as necessary.
  • Promote the image and reputation of the System by exemplifying servant leadership and maintaining direct open lines of communication.
  • Contribute to the work of committees, work groups, project management and other collaborative efforts of the System.
  • Perform other duties as necessary to ensure the success of the System.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES

A minimum of two years of experience in a supervisory capacity in a hospital or long‑term care nursing center. Training experience in rehabilitative and restorative nursing practices is required. Education, training and/or experience in one of the following is preferred: rehabilitative nursing, geriatric nursing and/or psychosocial nursing.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Registered Nurse (RN) degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Active Georgia RN license.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

None.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or associates of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense in carrying out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagrammatic format. Ability to handle problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

COMPUTER APPLICATION SKILLS

Proficiency with the following applications:
Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word.
