Sales Associate

Position Overview

Part‑time Sales Associate – a key member of the Five Below team responsible for delivering outstanding customer service, driving sales, and supporting the store environment.

• Greet and assist customers promptly, approaching and acknowledging them immediately and handling multiple customers efficiently.
• Understand and meet customer needs by sharing product knowledge, answering questions, directing them to merchandise, and offering recommendations.
• Engage in suggestive selling while staying informed of product availability.
• Promote store events and promotions, informing customers about current events, promotions, and special activities to enhance their shopping experience and drive sales.
• Resolve customer concerns, addressing issues and using product knowledge to offer alternative solutions, aiming to turn returns into exchanges when possible.
• Communicate needs to management, regularly informing them about merchandise restocking, service requirements, and feedback in a timely manner.
• Support the team and company goals, collaborating to achieve overall store and company objectives and contributing to a positive and productive work environment.

• At least 16 years old.
• Available to work a flexible schedule (day, evening, weekends, including overnight shifts and travel as required).
• Comfortable with or willing to learn technology such as cash registers, handheld and mobile devices.
• Good communicator with the ability to engage with customers.
• Ability to handle customer interactions and potential issues/concerns courteously and professionally.
• Use basic information‑gathering skills to solve problems.
• Ability to learn procedural knowledge acquired through on‑the‑job training.

• Operate cash registers frequently.
• Move merchandise weighing up to 25 lbs and place/remove merchandise up to a height of 5-10 feet.
• Ascend/descend ladders to retrieve and put away stock.
• Position self to kneel, bend, twist, and stoop, including in the stock room and on the sales floor.
• Communicate and exchange information with customers via telephone and face‑to‑face, and with managers and coworkers; exchange accurate information in these situations.
• Move across the sales floor assisting customers and to/from the stock room, retrieving and putting away merchandise.
• Work a flexible schedule to meet business needs, including day, evening, weekends, and occasional overnight shifts or travel as required.
• Identify and discern email and print instructions regarding merchandise layouts, associate schedules, and standard operating procedures.
• Remain in an upright position for 80% of the time.
