Job Summary:

This position is responsible for interacting with customers and team members, supporting selling initiatives, and performing assigned tasks while providing legendary customer service.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Min 5%):

Maintain regular and predictable attendance.

Work scheduled shifts and have the ability to work varied hours, days, nights, weekends, and overtime as dictated by business needs.

Support selling initiatives (TEAM):

Thank the Customer
Engage with the customer and/or pet
Advise on products or services
Make it Memorable

Perform a combination of duties during 95% of the day, including:

Operate cash register/computer following cash handling procedures
Recovery of merchandise
Participate in freight process
Complete Plan-o-gram procedures
Assemble merchandise
Perform janitorial duties
Execute price changes/markdowns
Assist customers with loading purchases
Ensure the safety and well-being of live animals
Complete all documentation related to duties

Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

Experience:

No experience required; retail and/or pet/live animal knowledge preferred.
Education:

High school diploma or equivalent preferred; ability to read, write, and count accurately is essential.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Pet/live animal, pet food, pet product knowledge preferred.
Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Basic computer skills.
Interpersonal skills and ability to resolve issues ethically with minimal conflict.

Working Conditions:

Indoor environment with moderate noise.
Hard surfaces like concrete or asphalt; adequate lighting and temperature.
Shift durations typically no less than 4 hours, may exceed 8 hours.
Promote a safe and productive environment, adhering to safety guidelines.

Physical Requirements:

Non-sedentary role requiring movement throughout the store and outdoor areas.
Operate equipment safely and efficiently.
Occasionally lift or reach merchandise overhead.
Stand, kneel, twist, crouch, squat, bend, stoop, and climb ladders frequently.
Move throughout the store for entire shifts.
Access all store areas safely.
Operate store equipment and complete documentation accurately.
Process information and merchandise through POS system.
Transfer merchandise weighing up to 50 pounds.
Complete all training and certification requirements.
Lifting up to 50+ pounds.
