Description

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • All Material Handlers
    • Operate a lift truck by driving backwards and twisting to keep visual focus in the direction of travel.
    • Operate a lift truck all shift.
    • Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on vehicles and auxiliary equipment, such as cleaning or recharging batteries, and refer defects or repairs to supervisor/maintenance.
    • Move controls to drive battery‑powered lift trucks and transport materials between loading, unloading, processing, and storage areas.
    • Move levers and controls that operate lifting devices, such as forklifts, lift beams and swivel‑hooks, hoists, and elevating platforms, to load, unload, transport, and stack material.
    • Position lifting devices under, over, or around loaded pallets, skids, and boxes, and secure material or products for transport to designated areas.
    • Manually load or unload materials onto or off pallets, skids, platforms, or lifting devices.
    • Maintain reliable attendance at scheduled shifts.
    • Perform all duties in conformance with safety and security standards.
    • Perform all other duties as assigned or needed.
  • Unloader
    • Unload products from inbound carriers (truck and rail cars).
    • Verify that the product received is identified and counted accurately.
    • Inspect condition of all received product.
    • Move and place product safely and securely in its proper storage location.
  • Preloader
    • Receive and read preload orders.
    • Fill orders by accurately picking product from storage and staging that product on a spot utilizing stacking guidelines.
    • Inspect and load trucks and arrange the products with the cube of the trailer according to recommended loading practices and guidelines.
    • Use scanning device and computer as needed to perform tasks.
    • Check printout for shortages, over‑counts and incorrect model numbers.
    • Correct shortages, over‑counts and incorrect models where possible.
  • Truck Loader
    • Inspect trailers before loading products.
    • Count units on preload spot and compare with shipping documents.
    • Move products from the preload spot, and directly from storage when required, into the trailer.
    • Arrange the products within the cube of the trailer according to recommended loading practices and guidelines.
    • Secure the load properly for travel.

    Ability to work required schedule and arrive on time; willingness to work overtime during busy seasons.

    Basic math skills for all units of measure, including rate, ratio, and percentage calculations.

Skills & Abilities
  • Education:

    High School Graduate or GED (preferred).
  • Experience:

    One to two years related experience.
  • Computer

    Skills:

    Basic scanner technology.
  • Certificates & Licenses:
    Valid State Driver’s License;
    Forklift Certification preferred.
